BABY THE RAIN MUST FALL

Discuss the films of Steve McQueen.

the film was rubbish sorry to say and mcqueen certainly over acted when it came to the singing.

although I love and admire Steve, this was not a good movie. I dont blame Mcqueen too much apart from the singing/overacting but the movie did have potential to be pretty good.

[quote="daniel smague"][quote="Donna"]like it and it was changed.

Why was Steve McQueen's voice (or whoever's voice was used) singing so off-key and unmelodious ? Was that intended to tell the audience something about Henry Thomas's lack of talent ? Or was it simply a case of a poorly cast singer ? Why did the producer and director allow McQueen's dubbing of the songs to be so absurdly out of synch ?

Yes, I was amazed at STEVE's obviously bad over-acting and even worse lip-synching in these scenes, really cringful. Not like him at all.

I guess the only person who may have the answer is NEILE ADAMS as she was married to him at the time... I wonder if she ever looks in on this site?

The other thing I noticed was that it appeared to me that he is 'lip -synching' to 2 seperate singers, who sound compeltely different !!!!
One of them actually sounded like it could be STEVE himself singing, the other guy sounded like someone compldetely different ....very odd!!!

My take on this.......This movie I do like and it gets little attention and I think McQueen did very good acting from the heart as it was simular to his own troubled childhood.
Gal Bear - you are so right he is gorgeous in this movie!! :love2:
I have to watch it again as I have not seen it in awhile. I do like the song that is sung in the opening credits.
The only part of the movie that turns me off is when he is in the bar singing and the bit over dramatic fight scene.
I do love when he sings in front of his house to his daughter - very touching. I think Lee Remick was a beauty and a fine actress. She too died too young. Sad, so much more living to do.
Watching the ending of the movie, I kind of thought she would end up with the policeman.
JR you are right about the black and white and the Claxton pics. Just lovely!
