My Husband, My Friend movie adaption moving forward.
Neile and Steve in Paris, 1965
Neile and Steve, Paris, 1965 Plans to turn Neile McQueen Toffel's autobiography and tell all story of her 15 year marriage to husband Steve McQueen into a movie are moving forward. Neile announced through a publicist in August that New Line’s Kevin Kasha is developing the big-screen adaptation, and that “A search is now underway to cast actors who will portray the enduring screen icon, Steve McQueen, and his former wife, Neile McQueen Toffel, who is the mother of the actor’s children and was by his side for 15 years during the production of all of his major films.”

Neile expressed her feelings on the enormous challenge of casting her famous husband to McQueenOnline: “The thing with Steve... the reason he is so hard to cast, and which is fraught with danger for any actor, is the sensitivity that he exhibited... his sensitivity, his troubled past, his kindness, his sweetness, his crazyness, but also there was always lurking behind that, that sense of danger.”

Speaking with asianjournal.com regarding casting of her own character, Neile said: “Anyone can play me as long as they fit the bill. The director and producers will have to come up with the character description. I'm not as objective about me.”
