Papillon remake in the works
Yet another McQueen classic is about to recieve the "remake" treatment.

This time around it is the epic drama of friendship, loyalty, survival and escape from hellish imprisonment in the McQueen/Hoffman classic Papillon.

According to Variety, newly formed Spanish production company Atlantia Canarias is teaming with L.A. producers Branko Lustig (Schindler's List, Gladiator) and John Kelly (The Black Dahlia) to remake the hugely successful 1973 film. With an announced budget of approximately 90 million dollars, let's hope they can "get it right" and do justice to the incredible production values and acting performances of the original.

The shoot is scheduled for September 2009, and will take place in the Canary Islands. No director is as yet attached to the project, and no cast have been announced at this point.

Special thanks to Gera for bringing this news to our attention.
