Blu-ray news - The Thomas Crown Affair available now and Papillon available May 24, 2011

'Papillon' Blu-ray promo sheet The Thomas Crown Affair is currently available as a 'Best Buy' exclusive in the USA and will go into general distribution very soon.

Thomas Crown gets a 1080p video transfer and a lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 mix.

The disk carries over all the special features from the DVD which are a Feature Commentary by director Norman Jewison and the film's Theatrical Trailer.

Papillion is getting the deluxe treatment! From the press release:

It's the greatest escape! Golden Globe®-nominee Steve McQueen (Papillon, 1974) and Academy Award®-winner Dustin Hoffman (Rain Man, 1988; Kramer vs. Kramer, 1979) team for the spectacular true-life adventure of the man who defied “inescapable” Devil's Island. Presented by Warner Home Video, Papillon (1973) arrives on Blu-ray Disc™ for the very first time with a collectible 32-page Blu-ray Book featuring fascinating film information, archival photos, and an examination of the controversy surrounding the film.

So there you go. It seems we will get an interesting "examination of the controversy surrounding the film" (which most likely refers to the French govenments very negative response to both the book and film), lots of great glossy pics and other related info in the 32 page digi-book.

In addition to this the film trailer and featurette The Magnificent Rebel which were on the DVD will also grace the Blu-ray.

Sadly the isolated score which was on the older 1999 DVD release (dropped from the 2005 DVD re-release) doesn't seem to have found it's way onto Blu-ray, but nonetheless this sounds like a fantastic package with what promises to be amazing picture and sound!
