Recent November 2007 McQueen auction brings in top dollars
As part of it’s annual auction at the Petersen Automotive Museum, Bonhams and Butterfields auctioned off two motorbikes once owned by Steve McQueen. The first, a 1970 Kawasaki G31, which was handpainted by Steve’s close friend and famed pinstriping artist Von Dutch, sold for US $47 500. The second, a 1929 Scott 596cc Super Squirrel which was restored by Von Dutch and given to McQueen as a gift sold for US $38 000.

Another significant piece of the McQueen legacy auctioned off was Steve’s leather aviator jacket, which sold for US $40 000, and his Winchester Model 94 lever action carbine rifle, which sold for US $4 800.
